Regional Information

The selenium levels in the soil in Ohio are generally adequate, but vary in eastern Ohio. Contact your local extension office to determine the selenium levels in the soil in your area, and also the area where your hay is grown.


State Regulations

Goats imported into Ohio for breeding purposes shall:
Be accompanied by a certificate of veterinary inspection issued within thirty days of entry and be identified with official individual identification. The owner and the veterinarian must attest to the following statement written on the certificate of veterinary inspection: “the goats in this shipment are not known to be under any movement restrictions because of scrapie”.

Have an individual negative tuberculosis test within 60 days prior to entry
